'Mourners' Hold Vigil For Arby's Sign In Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- People in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood gathered near a recently-closed Arby's restaurant to commemorate the end of an era Friday night.
The vintage sign in front of the Arby's on Lake and Emerson avenues came down earlier this week.
Last month, the restaurant closed abruptly after 47 years in business.
A candlelight vigil was held outside the restaurant Friday night, despite the single-digit temperatures.
"I mean, I like their food but this isn't necessarily about the location closing as much as we're losing this iconic sign that's been around for half a century," said Noah Hevey, who started a tribute to the sign on Facebook.
The first 100 people tonight received a free roast beef sandwich.
