University Of Minnesota Names New Chief Of Police

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota has named a new chief of police Tuesday.

Matthew Clark, of the Minneapolis Police Department, will join the university as the chief of police.

As U of M Chief of Police, Clark will be the head of the police department on the Twin Cities campus and the system-wide Public Safety Emergency Communications Center.

Clark joins the university after more than two decades with the Minneapolis Police Department. Currently he works at the Assistant Chief of Police, a position he has held since 2012. Prior to his role as Assistant Chief of Police, Clark worked as an investigator, academy supervisor, emergency services unit commander and in leadership positions at two Minneapolis precincts.

Clark will begin his role with the U of M on July 6.
