U.S. Airman Identified As Gunman In Grand Forks Wal-Mart Shooting

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (WCCO) -- An active duty service member stationed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base has been identified as the gunman in Tuesday's shooting at a Grand Forks Wal-Mart.

According to a statement from the Air Force base, Senior Airman Marcell T. Willis had been stationed in Grand Forks since February 2013, working primarily in supply. He was originally from Tennessee.

"The Airmen of Grand Forks Air Force Base are deeply saddened by this event and we extend our sincere condolences to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy," said Col. Paul Bauman, 319th Air Base Wing commander. "We are very proud of our close relationship with the Grand Forks community and are fully cooperating with local authorities and agencies."

The Grand Forks Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
