U Of M President Eric Kaler Shares Thoughts On Education Funding
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota is asking the state for $65.2 million.
President Eric Kaler told WCCO's Roshini Rajkumar that their top priority is to continue the tuition freeze.
"And to extend that to graduate and other professional studies," he said.
But he's facing a bit of a battle, with a big discrepancy between the House and Senate education funding plans.
He said there is $60 million in the Senate's plan
"Our challenge is in the House, where even in a year with a budget surplus, they are proposing nothing for the U," he said.
He said they are working hard to share the message about the importance of funding the state's only research University.
