U Of M: 3 Suspects Assault & Rob 2 Victims Near Campus

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota says two victims – one of whom was a University student – were assaulted and robbed by three suspects off campus Saturday evening.

At around 11:05 p.m. Saturday, Minneapolis police responded to the report of a robbery near Ontario Street SE and Washington Avenue SE. Police say the two victims were walking on Washington Avenue when they were approached by two men and one woman.

According to police, one of the suspects then burned the male victim on the arm with a cigarette and another suspect punched him in the face. Meanwhile, a third suspect punched the female victim and demanded their valuables.

The suspects then took the victims' backpacks and cellphones and fled southbound on Ontario Street. Their descriptions are not available at this time.

The victims weren't seriously injured in the assault.
