U Crime Alert: Suspects Stole Student's Purse, Pulled Gun On Her

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A University of Minnesota crime alert says a student had a gun pulled on her and her purse stolen over the weekend, and police are searching for two of the suspects involved.

The robbery happened at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning near the intersection of 12th Avenue Southeast and 6 Street Southeast in Minneapolis. That's about three blocks from campus.

The victim was on her way to a friend's house when she was approached by three people: two men and one woman, the alert says. One of the suspects grabbed the victim from behind, and another took her purse. As the suspects walked away, the victim followed.

But then one of the suspects, the woman, pulled a gun on the victim. The alert says the victim was not harmed and immediately called 911.

Police responded and used a dog to find the woman with the gun and arrest her. They found the victim's purse, as well as the gun.

The alert says Minneapolis police are searching for the other two suspects, whom the victim described as being around 18-25 years old, and standing between 5-feet, 5-inches and 6-feet, 2-inches tall.

Police also gave out details of the arrested suspect in hopes people saw her with the two men. She is described as a 24-year-old woman, about 5-feet, 7-inches tall with a light build. She has a short black mohawk with the sides of her head shaved. Her name was not given.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call police at 612-692-8477.

Note: Another student was robbed at gunpoint in St. Paul early Sunday morning near the University of St. Thomas. It happened a few hours before the robbery described above.
