Tyus Jones Makes Surprise Visit To Apple Valley Alma Mater

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Students attending a leadership conference in Apple Valley had quite the surprise Wednesday when a local NBA star stopped by.

Tyus Jones is no stranger to Apple Valley High School. He graduated from there two years ago before becoming a NCAA Champion and Timberwolves rookie.

He told students how hard work and a support team of family and friends helped him pursue his dream of going to the NBA.

"Surround yourself with good, positive people who are going to help you, who want the best for you and who are going to, you know, help you achieve your goals and dreams. You can't do anything by yourself, nobody can," Jones said.

He also told students no dream is too big.

Jones says his new goal is to make the playoffs this season, and he feels ready and excited for whatever comes his way.
