Twins Prospects Berrios, Vargas In Futures Game

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins will have two minor-league prospects playing in the Futures Game that leads off the All-Star events at Target Field next month.

MLB released the rosters Tuesday, and a pair of Puerto Rico natives in right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios and first baseman Kennys Vargas will both play for the World team.

Berrios was drafted with the 32nd overall pick by the Twins in 2012 and is currently playing for the Fort Myers Miracle in the Florida State League in high-level Class A. Vargas signed with the Twins in 2009 and is currently playing for the New Britain Rock Cats in the Eastern League in Double-A.

Oswaldo Arcia, Kyle Gibson and Joe Mauer are current Twins who played in the Futures Game for either the U.S. or World teams.
