Twin Cities Doctors See Increase In Respiratory Illness

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- While influenza is widespread in the state, some doctors say they're seeing people coming in with other respiratory problems.

David Hilden is a physician with Hennepin County Medical Center.

"Doctors even have a name for it, we call it influenza-like illness, we call it ILI," Hilden said.

Hilden said most patients have illnesses that are along the lines of a viral illness.

"But in some cases we are seeing pneumonia," he said.

He said most people can stay home and drink fluids and treat it themselves.

But for the young and old, it's a good idea to see your doctor.
