Twin Cities Advocates Call Out Menthol Tobacco In New Video

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A group of Twin Cities advocates have teamed up with local help organizations to create a video calling out menthol tobacco.

According to the Association for Nonsmokers-Minnesota (ANSR), the video is in response to studies that show tobacco products with menthol flavoring make it easier for first-time users to start and harder to stop smoking.

Among those most affected by menthol flavoring are African-Americans, youth and the LGBTQ community, according to the group.

So, advocates around the Twin Cities teamed up with ANSR and NorthPoint Health & Wellness on the video.

The video features a poem by local artist Joe Davis, called the "Beautiful Lie, Ugly Truth," which advocates say exposes the lies of the tobacco industry and how it harms the community.

ANSR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the human and economic costs of tobacco use in Minnesota.
