Sheriff: Woman Drives Over Motorcycle, Leads Deputies On Chase
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Pinewood woman is in custody after hitting several vehicles and fleeing police Thursday near Bemidji.
The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office says they started receiving reports of an erratic driver in a silver pickup truck just after 4 p.m. on County Road 15 in Northern Township.
The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Grace Catherine Robia, was then reported hitting an idling motorcyclist on purpose, knocking them and the bike over.
Robia than allegedly drove over the motorcycle before continuing northbound on CR-15.
A deputy spotted Robia's truck still driving erratically about an hour later and tried to pull her over. Robia then drove off in the direction of Cass Lake, and at one point struck a stopped patrol car.
The chase finally ended after Leech Lake Tribal Police deployed a device on the road that flattened her tires.
The sheriff's office says they received further reports of car and property damage caused by a truck with the same description.
Robia is awaiting charges in the Beltrami County Jail.
