Trooper Pulls Woman From Flooded Car On I-90
LUVERNE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol says a state trooper plucked a woman from her car after rapidly rising water flooded Interstate 90 and stranded her car in the southwest corner of the state near the South Dakota border.
The Patrol says the water was over the driver's seat when she called 911 around 9:15 p.m. Monday.
Trooper Brian Beuning arrived and helped her out through the rear passenger window. They stood in the middle of the eastbound lanes of I-90 as her car was swept away down a ditch. It flipped over as it floated away.
Strong currents prevented a boat from reaching the pair, so firefighters in rescue suits waded out and tied a rope around the soaked trooper and driver to help them walk to safety. Neither was injured.
