Possible Tornado, Severe Storms Batter Northwestern Minn.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It became calm and clear in the Twin Cities Friday night, but severe storms -- and a possible tornado -- swept through northwestern part of the state.
The Mahnomen County Sheriff's office says they received multiple reports of a tornado that touched down at about 7:30 p.m. near Waubun in the White Earth Reservation between Bemidji and Fargo. This still needs to be investigated by the National Weather Service, who will assess the damage Saturday.
There were also Dopler-indicated tornado warnings in southeastern Minnesota as well Friday night, which was still under a Tornado Watch until early Saturday morning.
After a rocky Friday night, this weekend looks like a winner. There will be plenty of sunshine for most of the state, with temperatures reaching into the mid-70s for both Saturday and Sunday -- the latter of which will be a Top 10 Weather Day. Sunshine, warmth, plus no humidity or mosquitoes yet.
Memorial Day on Monday, however, will be a stormy, rainy one. And the rest of the week will cool down slightly, with rain expected through Thursday.
