Texas School Shooting Survivors Unsure Of The Next Step
SANTA FE, Texas (AP) -- The survivors of last week's school shooting in Texas say that deciding what to do next has not come as easily for them as it did for students who lived through the Parkland, Florida, attack three months ago.
Those teens launched an impassioned campaign to tighten the nation's gun laws.
But Santa Fe is a rural Texas town with 13,000 residents who pride themselves on responsible gun ownership. The community has adopted a different mantra. Instead of seeing a gun issue, they see "a heart issue." And heart issues, they say, are harder to fix than guns.
Callie Wylie is a 16-year-old soccer player who lost eight classmates and two teachers in Santa Fe, near Houston. She says it's too soon to settle on a course of action.
