2 dead in head-on crash near Taylors Falls, state patrol says
TAYLORS FALLS, Minn. — A man and a woman are dead after a head-on crash near Taylors Falls Monday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened around 12:39 p.m. on Highway 8 and Milltown Road in Shafer Township.
A 59-year-old Amery, Wisconsin man was driving a Honda Civic eastbound on Highway 8 when the vehicle crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a Mazda CX-5.
The driver of the Honda and a 61-year-old woman from Minneapolis riding in the Mazda both died in the crash, the state patrol says. They were identified by officials as Thomas Collins and Kimberly Brown, respectively.
The Mazda driver, 55-year-old Kim Mc Coy of Minneapolis, suffered life-threatening injuries.
The crash shut down a portion of Highway 8 for a large part of Monday afternoon.
Authorities say roads were wet at the time of the incident.
The state patrol is investigating.
