Target Names HR Executive As Next Chief Stores Officer
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Target has picked human resources executive Janna Potts to serve as its new chief stores officer and executive vice president, replacing Tina Tyler.
The retail giant said Monday that Potts will start her new position immediately. It said in a separate regulatory filing that Tyler had left the company, but it offered no additional details about the reason for the departure.
Potts will report to Chief Operating Officer John Mulligan and be responsible for the company's 1,805 U.S. stores. Potts has been with the company since 1989 and served most recently as senior vice president of human resources, focused on stores and distribution.
Target Corp. has been working on a turnaround plan that started under CEO Brian Cornell and aims to draw shoppers back to its stores. The Minneapolis company has been revamping its management team and updating items like its fashion, baby products and home decor.
Target shares rose 23 cents to $72.84 in morning trading Monday, while the Dow Jones industrial average sank nearly 2 percent.
