Target Field Gets Even Greener
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Target Field is taking another step to minimize fan-generated trash.
While plastic bottles and aluminum will still be recycled, the ballpark will compost all other concession products. That includes beer, soda and coffee cups, plates, trays, lids, straws and utensils. So fans can throw any leftover food into the same compostable container.
Eco-Products, of Boulder, Colorado, is supplying the cups, plates, trays, utensils and straws. Packaging used in the ballpark is made from a compostable resin material which comes from NatureWorks, headquartered in Minnetonka.
The club will have special bins around the stadium where fans can toss the compostable packaging and leftover food.
