Target Corp. Cuts 140 More Jobs
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Another 100 people lost their jobs at Target Corporate offices on Thursday, as a continuation of its corporate structuring.
The jobs eliminated were administrative assistant positions. In addition, 40 open jobs in the same department were eliminated.
"While these decisions are difficult, we believe we are taking the right steps to position Target for long-term success," a representative from the company's public relations department said.
The terminated employees will receive at least 15 weeks' severance pay and pay the employer portion of their benefits for the next six months, Target said.
Last month, about 1,700 employees lost their jobs, and 1,400 open positions were permanently closed. That loss accounted for roughly 13 percent of the corporate offices' work force.
