Target Confirms 13 Stores To Close Nationally, Including 1 In Minn.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Target says it will be closing 13 of its stores nationwide, including one in Minnesota, due to the stores' falling profits.
The Minneapolis-based retailer confirmed the closings Wednesday, saying "the decision to close a Target store is not made lightly."
The closings include stores in New Ulm, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin.
"We typically decide to close a store after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location. Typically, the decision to close a store is as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability. All eligible Target store team members are being offered the option to transfer to other Target stores," a Target representative said.
Other closings include:
• Austin North East - Austin, Texas
• Suncoast Pasco County - Odessa, Florida
• Casa Grande, Ariz.
• Victorville, Calif.
• East Flint - Flint, Mich.
• Columbus Southwest - Columbus, Ohio
• Northridge - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
• Springfield, Ohio
• Ottumwa, Iowa
• Anderson, Ind.
• Dixie Highway - Louisville, Ky.
