Sheriff: Woman Assaulted After Catching Suspect Breaking Into Her Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Carver County Sheriff's Office is looking for a male suspect after he apparently assaulted a woman in Watertown last week who caught him breaking into her car.

Authorities responded to the incident at about 3:30 a.m. on June 22 on the 200 block of Angel Ave. SW in Watertown. A woman had interrupted a male suspect searching through her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway next to her home.

Authorities say she confronted the suspect, who shoved her and attempted to flee the area. The two got into a physical altercation when her loose-fitting pants fell down. Both the woman and the suspect fell to the ground, and the suspect pinned her underneath him. The victim started screaming, and the suspect fled the area on foot.

Sheriff's deputies conducted a search of the area but couldn't find the suspect. The man is described as a white male about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, thin, clean shaven and wearing a light colored baseball cap backwards.

The Carver County Sheriff's Office says the incident is under investigation, and anyone with information should contact authorities at (952) 361-1231.
