Suspect In 2 Bank Robberies Arrested In Blaine
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A suspect in two recent metro area bank robberies was arrested Thursday afternoon in Blaine.
The suspect has been linked to the June 26 robbery of a Columbia Heights U.S. Bank branch and the July 15 robbery of a TCF Bank inside the Fridley Cub Foods.
Police are not yet charging the suspect, who is being held on probable cause for two counts of aggregated robbery.
"Diligent detective work and teamwork resulted in a violent offender being apprehended, making our community a safer place," Fridley Public Safety Director Don Abbott said in a statement.
The Fridley Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, Columbia Heights Police Department, the Anoka Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force and the FBI all investigated the crimes.
"This collaborative law enforcement effort illustrates how we efficiently work together to catch bad guys and prevent ongoing victimization of our citizens," Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart said.
