Several High School Dance Teams Featured In Super Bowl

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota was able to showcase some of its finest talent during the Super Bowl halftime show.

From the dancing, to the marching band, there was plenty of Minnesota pride in the big show. The hardest part for some of the local groups involved was keeping the secret of a lifetime.

For coach Jenny Raiche and her team of dancers at Eastview High School, it was a wild ride leading up to Sunday night.

"When we got the videos of the choreography, it was legit, real, strong choreography, and to see that many people perform at that level was pretty amazing," she said.

That choreography was sent only three weeks before the show, with two to rehearse. But for senior Nina Boguslawski, preparing was not the hardest part -- it was the confidentiality contract. If they didn't keep it a secret, they'd be out.

"That was so hard," she said. "That was the hardest part of the process. I just thought, 'Think of how cool it will be when you get to perform at the Super Bowl, so just keep your mouth shut,' even though it was really hard!"

It paid off, especially for senior Carly Huyber, when the Star Tribune featured her front and center. She says being a part of it was the experience of a lifetime.

"Once I got into the tunnel and I was waiting to go out, I started getting the jitters," she said. "But then once I got out there, it was so much fun. I was with all my dance team members, and seeing Justin out there and seeing the crowd there, it was an amazing experience."

Also in the show - the University of Minnesota marching band, including bass drumer Emily Petersen.

"It just kind of reminds you that music brings people together, and that this band does so much for people, performing for people, performing with Justin Timberlake," she said. "It was a crazy experience. It was awesome."

Of the 50 Eastview High School dancers, 26 of them -- as well as seven coaches -- performed in the halftime show.
