U Of M Student In Critical Condition After Fall From Balcony
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 19-year-old University of Minnesota student is fighting to recover after falling from a fifth floor balcony over the weekend.
The student fell late Saturday night in front of several of his friends.
Police say the man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and was in critical condition as of Monday afternoon. Police are not releasing his name.
One witness described seeing the man appearing to be playfully trying to jump from one balcony to another. Another student living in the FloCo apartments says she saw the aftermath of the young man's fall and is hoping for his speedy recovery.
"It was really shocking," said student Emily Vonderharr. "I mean, fifth floor is really high up and we could see the people peaking over the balcony. We were worried if he survived or not."
Several of his friends who witnessed the fall declined to comment Monday.
Police do not suspect foul play.
