Struggling Mille Lacs Lands National Bass Fishing Tournament
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota resorts hurt by the walleye crisis will reel in thousands of new customers next year.
Lake Mille Lacs has been chosen to host the 2016 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Tournament.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources relaxed bass fishing rules in hopes of landing a big event like this. Business owners have been hurt by the lake's falling walleye population and shortened walleye season.
The DNR estimates the tournament, held in mid-September, will bring an extra $3 million to the area.
