Stretch of southbound 35W in Minneapolis shut down overnight due to tanker crash, spill
MINNEAPOLIS – A stretch of Interstate 35W in Minneapolis was shut down Monday evening after a tanker truck crashed and spilled hundreds of gallons of liquid asphalt tack.
The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened on southbound I-35W near Industrial Boulevard.
The tanker was hauling 1,500 gallons of an asphalt bonding agent, of which about 400 to 500 gallons ended up on the roadway. (Earlier, the State Patrol had reported that the truck was carrying 15,000 gallons.)
The driver suffered injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.
As of Tuesday morning, the scene was cleared. The incident remains under investigation, the patrol reported.
