Storms Soak Southern Minnesota

FAIRBAULT, Minn. (WCCO) – Southern Minnesota got hit the hardest Monday by severe thunderstorms as rains fell across the majority of the state.

In Spicer, near Willmar, Minn., high winds tore docks on Green Lake apart.

"Last couple of hours been pretty hectic. I mean there is a lot of lightning, thunder," Trent Churchil, of Fairbault, said.

"We were looking at the radar and we would see this red blob coming towards us," Morgan Kusinerek, of Fairbault, said.

It's just the latest in what's been a string of rainy day for the area.

Wendy Rossow and her daughter Heidi had plans to golf in Fairbault, but ended up canceling their plans and waiting out the storm in their car under an awning.

"No, we can't get a break. And that's our family activity, is golifing, and the golf course has been closed," Wendy Rossow said.

The constant rain is more than just inconvenient for some.

"It's not easy we've been backed up for all this week with all this rain," Churchill said.

Trent Churchill works in lawn care service. He's waiting on sunshine to bring back a paycheck.

"Especially farmers right now that don't have all their crops in. I mean it's tough, because now it's going to be wet for the rest of the week it looks like," Churchill said.

With more rain in the forecast for the coming days, a ray of sunshine can't come soon enough.
