State Patrol: Trooper Hurt In Minnetonka Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –A State Trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel Sunday morning in Minnetonka, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities said the crash happened just before 7 a.m. on Shady Oak Road at Red Circle Drive. When officers arrived, a State Patrol squad was traveling west on Red Circle Drive and taking a left onto Shady Oak Road. As the officer was going through a green light, a 2006 Ford Explorer ran a red light and hit the driver's side rear door of the squad car. A witness at the scene confirmed with authorities that the driver of the Explore ran a red light.

The Ford Explorer had been traveling northbound on Shady Oak Road and the driver, identified as 28-year-old Timothy C. Radloff, said he fell asleep while driving.

He was not hurt in the crash. The state trooper, 31-year-old Michael M. Cleveland, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
