State Patrol: Drunk Driver Hits Fire Truck In Inver Grove Heights

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Red Wing woman was arrested in November on suspicion of drunk driving after hitting a fire truck on the scene of a fatal crash in Inver Grove Heights, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the 52-year-old woman drove past flares and a message board on Highway 55 that the road was closed due to the crash. The woman then plowed into the fire truck, which was unoccupied at the time.

The woman was arrested for DWI after having a blood alcohol of .26, more than three times the legal limit for driving in Minnesota. She suffered minor injuries at the scene before being taken into custody.

The State Patrol says it's doing extra enforcement for DWI on Minnesota roads through Dec. 30. So if you're heading to Christmas or holiday parties, plan a sober ride.
