State Holding Onto More Than $600M In Unclaimed Assets
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The state is apparently holding onto more than half a billion dollars in unclaimed assets.
And they're not making a big effort to return that money.
The more than $600 million is from old bank accounts, safe-deposit boxes and untouched death benefits and stock shares.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Prince are among the 50,000 people who are owed money.
The state used to notify people by email, but doesn't do that anymore.
But it says people can use a website, Missing Money.com to get information.
