Stalled Semi Closes Stretch Of I-494 Between Plymouth, Maple Grove
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A stalled semi truck on Interstate 494 caused a traffic nightmare for dozens of commuters in the west metro Friday evening.
The snarl happened at about 6:45 p.m. on southbound I-494 at Highway 55 in Plymouth, and stretched all the way up through Maple Grove to the I-94/I-494 split.
Minnesota State Patrol's Lt. Tiffani Nelson says the semi's air breaks locked up. Traffic was able to pass by at first, until a second semi tried to pass and got stuck.
MnDOT closed southbound I-494 between Hwy 55 and Rockford Road for about a half hour. The stall was cleared by 7:30 p.m.
