St. Paul Police: 2 Kids Safe After Thief Steals Unattended Minivan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police say two children are safe after the unattended minivan they were in was stolen Tuesday night in St. Paul's Summit-University neighborhood.

A mother left her 2- and 4-year-old children in the minivan as she went to drop something off at about 10:15 p.m. on the 600 block of Central Avenue. As she was returning she saw a man drive off in her vehicle.

A security guard spotted the children a few minutes later walking down the 400 block of Snelling Avenue, and he brought them out of the cold. They were unharmed, and were soon reunited with their mom.

The minivan was found a little while later near the intersection of Roy Street and Shields Avenue. Police are still searching for the thief.
