Man self-reported fatal attack on senior on I-94 in St. Paul, police say

Man calls police on himself over homicide on I-94 in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. — A homicide occurred on an interstate highway in Minnesota's capital city Thursday, police said.

The St. Paul Police Department said the killing happened on Interstate 94 near Prior Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Traffic video showed first responders and flashing lights in the area.

At an afternoon news conference, police said a man called them to admit he attacked an elderly man in a car. The victim died at the hospital.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man from St. Paul in connection to the homicide.

"It is very unusual. It has some pieces to it that in my 30 years, I have not seen," said Sgt. Mike Ernster.
