St. Paul City Council Backs MLS Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The St. Paul City Council has passed a resolution backing the push to build a Major League Soccer stadium there. But it doesn't guarantee anything.

No deal has been made between the city and the league, who initially wanted to build a new stadium across the river in Minneapolis.

The Star Tribune reports Mayor Chris Coleman also met with the owners of the Minnesota United soccer franchise Wednesday.

St. Paul has proposed building a $150 million privately-funded soccer stadium in the Midway neighborhood at Interstate 94 and Snelling.
