St. Cloud Police: Boy Jailed After Shooting Another Boy With BB Gun
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 16-year-old boy is accused of shooting another boy with a BB gun at a St. Cloud high school Tuesday.
According to St. Cloud police, the incident took place in a locker room at Tech High School where the boys intended to meet to fight. The boys were involved in an ongoing dispute, and some of that dispute had occurred over the weekend away of school property.
When the boys entered the locker room, the 16-year-old suspect pulled out a BB-handgun and shot the victim in the upper torso, which caused a minor injury. The victim and several witnesses then fled the area. Police say the suspect put the BB gun in a locker and also left.
When authorities were notified, the suspect was immediately taken into custody and transported to Stearns County Jail. He was then transferred to a juvenile detention center to be held for court on several charges, which include second-degree assault and possession of BB-handguns on school grounds.
Authorities searched the suspect's locker, where they found two BB-handguns.
The victim, who is a 15-year-old student from St. Cloud, was treated and released from the St. Cloud Hospital.
St. Cloud Police Department School Resource Officers conducted the criminal investigation.
Tech High School is located on 200 block 12th Ave. in St. Cloud.
