Driver has both legs amputated after Shoreview crash, authorities say

Driver's legs amputated after crash in Shoreview

SHOREVIEW, Minn. — A driver involved in a crash in the north metro late Saturday had to have both his legs amputated, authorities said.

The crash happened on Hodgson Road south of County Road I in Shoreview around 11:50 p.m., according to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

A 49-year-old Burnsville man suffered serious injuries to his legs and was taken to Regions Hospital, where doctors amputated his legs. 

The other driver, a 17-year-old boy from Shoreview, was not hurt. 

The cause of the crash is not yet known, though the sheriff's office said impairment "does not appear to be a factor."

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating.
