Father Of 6 Dead In N. Minneapolis Triple Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Minneapolis Police are working to piece together a three tiered shooting that left six children without their dad.

It happened in north Minneapolis on North 3rd Street, just off Interstate 94. Officers say three men were shot, one who died on scene. The deceased was identified as Larry Dwayne Davis, Sr. -- a 35-year-old father and fiancé.

It was a family gathering Monday afternoon, but not the kind they'd hope for on a day like this.

"It's a bad holiday," LB Brown, Davis's uncle, said.

Brown was there because his nephew is gone -- so were the others who heard the news.

"Larry's a great man, he's a loving father," Davis' aunt Kia Brown said. "He's a great father and this shouldn't have happened to him."

Larry Davis' 15-year-old son Larrion Davis saw what no child should, as police worked around his father's body.

"My dad -- he was a good man," Larrion said. "He always kept it straight forward with you. Like me and him, we could talk about anything."

What happened to his father on a holiday afternoon still isn't clear. It started as a call about a fight.

"As officers were on their way to this call, it was upgraded to a person with a gun, shots, then finally a shooting call so we got a number of calls bringing us to this scene," Scott Seroka of the Minneapolis Police said.

Another man had been shot and injured, then another was shot and is expected to be ok.

"At this time we don't have any concrete information that we can share with you, as far as where we're at with the investigation in the hunt for suspects," Seroka said.

So as Davis' large family stands together on this holiday they'll have someone of their own to remember . Said Larrion, "I just love him, that's just all I really can say."

Larry Davis, Sr. was engaged to his girlfriend he had been with for nine years.
