Sheriff: Man Sustains Spinal Damage After Boat Goes Into Shallow Water

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 42-year-old man was injured after he drove his boat into shallow water on Saturday, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

The accident occurred on the east side of Cruiser's Cove on Lake Minnetonka, authorities said.

The boat's driver struck his head in the incident, and was transported by air to North Memorial Medical Center.

He said he felt numbness from the neck down. Authorities said the man did sustain spinal damage.

It was not immediately clear how the boat came into shallow water.

The sheriff's office water patrol, the Long Lake Fire Department and St. Bonifacious Fire Department were on hand to assist in the response.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said they responded to 75 calls for service on Lake Minnetonka during the holiday weekend.
