Hunter, 72, Found After Spending Night In Subzero Cold

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 72-year-old hunter is recovering Tuesday after he spent a night in subzero cold in northern Minnesota.

David Quiser, of Cook, went hunting on Christmas Day near Betty Township and failed to return home, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says.

A search team was sent out, but failed to find him. Meanwhile, overnight temperatures dropped well below zero, ranging from 20-25 below.

On Tuesday afternoon, a passerby spotted Quiser near Gheen. The 72-year-old was taken to Cook Hospital with "hypothermic conditions," the sheriff's office said.

Quiser reportedly told authorities that his car became stuck on Monday and he spent the night in it. The next morning, he went walking in search of help.

Daytime temperatures Tuesday struggled to climb above zero.
