Sheriff: 2 In Custody After Chase Ends With Van Crashing Into Garage

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A police chase involving a stolen van ended Monday morning with the van crashing into a garage in White Bear Lake and two people being taken into custody, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the incident started at about just before 2 a.m. as officers in Washington County got into a pursuit with the van on County Road E in Mahtomedi. The chase continued into White Bear Lake, where the driver lost control of the vehicle in the area of McKnight Road and Southwood Drive.

The sheriff's office said the van went into a yard and crashed into a garage attached to a home. Authorities said the crash happened about 15 feet away from where a woman was sleeping in the home.

Nobody was injured in the police chase, and two men were taken into custody at the scene. Authorities said the van had been reported stolen from an unknown location in Ramsey County.

The crashed caused an unspecified amount of damage to the home. The incident remains under investigation.
