Suspect in Mankato shooting found, taken into custody
MANKATO, Minn. -- Police in Mankato have located and arrested a suspect they believe was involved in a shooting that forced a nearby hospital to lock down on Friday.
The 30-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Saturday and is at Blue Earth County jail. He has not been charged.
A shelter-in-place request was issued for Echo Street across from the Mayo Clinic hospital campus on Friday morning. The hospital went into lockdown, but it was lifted around 1 p.m.
According to the city, police responded to the area for a report of a gunshot wound around 9 a.m. A victim was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury. The victim and the suspect knew each other, authorities say.
