Wis. Woman's Sheep's Milk Cheese Up For Big Award

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A western Wisconsin woman left the corporate world to become the leader of her own flock.

Brenda Jensen is the owner of Hidden Springs Creamery in Westby, which is 30 minutes outside of La Crosse, Wis.

Next week, she is entering some of her cheese in the World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison. However, it's not your typical cheese, she uses sheep's milk. In fact, one of her products was in the top 16 in the world.

She says what makes it award-winning is the fact that she sees the process through from start to finish.

"The feeling of raising your sheep, taking good care of them, having great milk and turning that into cheese is just fantastic," Jensen said.

The World Championship Cheese Contest is next week and it includes thousands of entries from 23 countries and 31 different states.
