Sex Trafficking Suspect Arrested After Barricading Himself In Hotel

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Roseville say one of the men arrested Sunday morning for sex trafficking barricaded himself for a time in a hotel room.

The arrests happened early in the morning at the Key Inn on 2550 Cleveland Avenue, police say. Officers had received information that a teenage girl was being trafficked in one of the rooms.

When officers showed up to arrest the man involved, he ran and locked himself in a room. Believing the man was armed and dangerous, authorities called for negotiators and a SWAT team.

The negotiators were later able to convince the man to leave the room. He was arrested without incident and identified only as a 27-year-old St. Paul man.

During the investigation, authorities also learned of another room connected with sex trafficking. A second man was later arrested.

Both hotel rooms are being held pending search warrants.

Police say more information in this case will be released after the long holiday weekend.
