Serious Crash Closes Northbound Highway 61 In Cottage Grove
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Part of Highway 61 was closed in Cottage Grove Wednesday afternoon after a "serious crash," according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The northbound side of the highway was closed at Jamaica Avenue, MnDOT said.
The Minnesota State Patrol said at least one person was injured in the crash, but the "extent of injuries has not yet been determined."
According to the state patrol, traffic on the highway was already down to one lane as MnDOT crews worked on a road buckle. A 30-year-old man from St. Paul driving a Chrysler 300 merged into a Chrysler Town & Country driven by a 75-year-old woman, causing the van to roll onto its roof.
Traffic was being diverted at Jamaica Avenue, but could reenter the road immediately after that.
