I-494 EB reopens in east metro after fatal crash

3 crashes, 2 fatal in Twin Cities overnight

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. — A stretch of highway in the east metro has reopened after a fatal crash during the Monday morning commutes.

The crash occurred on eastbound Interstate 494, beneath the Fifth and Seventh street bridges, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

Drivers were being diverted off at the nearby exit, then immediately reentering the highway.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash involved at least one fatality. Officials are still investigating.
