Second gentleman Doug Emhoff visits MSP Airport

MINNEAPOLIS — Second gentleman Doug Emhoff visited the Twin Cities on Friday to promote big upgrades at Minnesota airports.

Soon, Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport's Terminal 2 will undergo a $240 million expansion project. A $20 million federal grant will help with the costs. The proejct will include an array of new passenger amenities, environmentally friendly features, and expand the terminal to meet future demand.

Emhoff, along with U.S. Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg were there to celebrate the massive project.

"We're making generational investments in everything from our taxiways, to roadway safety projects, and we're providing funding for airports not only here but all over the country," Emhoff said. 

In total, Minnesota received more than $31.4 million in federal grants for four airports.

Emhoff last visited Minnesota in May, after President Joe Biden named Adirahman Kahin, founder and owner of Afro Deli & Grill, the National Small Business Owner of the Year. He witnessed firsthand how Kahin's staff put together meals for low-income community members in St. Paul.
