107 Citations Given During SCSU Move-In Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A total of 107 citations were given out during move-in weekend at St. Cloud State University last weekend.

In 2015, St. Cloud State University and the St. Cloud Police Department teamed up to increase staff and officer presence in St. Cloud's southside neighborhoods during move-in weekend.

That same year, move-in day was shifted from Saturday to Thursday to accommodate a new four-day orientation for first year students. The program also focused on more late-night events throughout campus.

In 2016, city police and university staff continued the tradition of greeting residents of the southside's 50 residents on move-in day.

The 107 citations were given from Thursday through Saturday. Fifty-six were given for underage consumption, 33 were given for having an open alcohol container, five were given for disruptive intoxication and one was given for being the host.

This number was down from 137 citations in 2015 and 223 in 2014.
