Scott Weiland's Ex-Wife Asks Fans Not To Glorify His Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The ex-wife of a rock star found dead in Minnesota is asking music fans not to glorify his death.

Scott Weiland was found dead on his tour bus outside a hotel near the Mall of America last week. Police have not said how the former Stone Temple Pilots frontman died, but they said they found cocaine in his room.

In a letter published in Rolling Stone, Weiland's ex-wife said the couple's two children lost their father to paranoia and drugs a long time ago.

Mary Forsberg Weiland wrote: "Let's choose to make this the first time we don't glorify this tragedy with talk of rock and roll and the demons that, by the way, don't have to come with it. Skip the depressing t-shirt with 1967-2015 on it -- use the money to take a kid to a ballgame or out for ice cream."
