Sauk Rapids Man Fights Officers, Hospital Staff After Arrest
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- A Sauk Rapids man fought police officers, deputies and staff at St. Cloud Hospital after being arrested Saturday afternoon.
Shawn Thomas Iees, 26, was spotted by Stearns County deputies and St. Cloud Police officers just before 2 p.m. while walking on Veteran's Drive near 24th Avenue North in St. Cloud, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's office.
Officers attempted to stop Iees, who has three outstanding warrants, but he fled, leading to a brief foot chase. Iees was tackled, then began fighting officers and deputies, and continued even after a Taser was used on him.
Iees was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by a deputy, but tried to flee again while being treated. The deputy and a hospital staff member were injured during the struggle to subdue him.
Iees is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail.
