Sanders To Attend Forum In Mpls. On Racial Disparities; Clinton Declined

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Neighborhoods Organizing for Change says Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is slated to participate Friday in a forum in Minneapolis addressing the state's great and well-documented racial disparities.

Organizers say the event will be held at the Capri Theatre on West Broadway, and it will ask Sanders for "real responses" to the issues facing black communities here in Minnesota and across the nation.

NOC says the community forum is not an endorsement for Sanders. His rival candidate, Hillary Clinton, was invited to participate but declined the invitation.

Topics at the forum will include how the federal government can invest in new solutions to counter racial disparities and how it can strip funding from the systems and structures that widen the gaps.

Organizers say the forum will be a ticketed event with a limited number of seats. Ticket information has yet to be released.
