Sanders Campaigns In Minnesota, Hoping For A Win Super Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders Monday held his third Minnesota campaign rally in four days, making a push to precinct caucuses on Super Tuesday.

"Tomorrow, Minnesota can make history," Sanders told a crowd of 1,500 at a hastily organized rally at the Minneapolis Convention Center. "Tomorrow, Minnesota can help lead this country to a political revolution."

Sanders is hoping Minnesota will put him in the win column, one of 12 states with primaries and caucuses on Super Tuesday. He also signaled that the DFL caucus plays a significant role in his plans.

Sanders also is making a strong environmental push, announcing opposition to two controversial oil pipeline projects in the state -- the Enbridge Sandpiper and Alberta Clipper Lines.

"The bottom line for me is that the fossil fuel companies cannot wreck our planet for their short-term profits," he said.

For the Sanders campaign, turning the "Bern" into Super Tuesday support is key. Congressman Keith Ellison spoke at the rally wearing lumberjack red plaid and urging the crowd to go to Caucus.

"The moment is now!," Ellison said. "It's time to take Minnesota for Bernie Sanders, everybody!"

Sanders also campaigned in Colorado and Massachusetts Monday.
